LAPTOP ACCESS TO THE INTERNET

CONNECTING TO THE IUPUI CAMPUS
NETWORK
To connect your computer to the IUPUI campus network, use the data jacks (the third, green jack on the left side marked Data1) and outlets located in all public computing clusters, study carrels, and group study rooms on the third and fourth floors of the University Library building.
IBM users
System Requirements:
- an Ethernet network interface card
- an Ethernet connector cable (can be checked out at the University
Library circulation desk)
- Windows 95 or Windows NT
Instructions
- to set the Windows program to obtain an IP address automatically
- Click Start, Settings, Control
Panel,
double-click Network
- In the "The following network components are installed"
Configuration dialog box, click on TCP/IP, then click
Properties
- In the IP Address dialog box, choose "Obtain an IP
address
automatically," then click OK
- Reboot the computer
Macintosh users
System Requirements:
- MacOS 8.5.1 or later
- Mac laptop (Powerbook or iBook) with built-in Ethernet
- an Ethernet connector cable (can be checked out at the
University Library circulation desk)
Instructions:
- To turn on DHCP
- Go to the Apple Menu, select Control Panels and then TCP/IP
- Make sure the Connect via: pulldown menu is set for Ethernet.
- Make sure the Configure dialog box is set for Using DCHP Server.
- On our network there is NO need for a DHCP Client ID: so leave this blank.
- Close the window and Save the changes. A reboot might be needed to obtain an IP address, but usually is not.

NOTICE REGARDING CITRIX SOFTWARE
Citrix software is no longer available at University Library, nor is it required for access to most of our resources.
REMOVING CITRIX SOFTWARE FROM YOUR COMPUTER
Windows 95:
click
Start, Settings, Control Panel, double-click
Add/Remove Programs. Click IUPUI University Library Remote Access,
Add/Remove, Yes.
Macintosh:
drag the Mac Citrix folder icon and the Citrix folder located in your System Folders Preferences Folder into the Trash.
