Meeting the NSF Data Management Plan Requirement
Support @ IUPUI
The Data Services Program is available to support researchers in meeting the NSF Data Management Plan requirement. We offer individual consultations for development and implementation of Data Management Plans that utilize available infrastructure at IUPUI. We are also happy to review Data Management Plans and provide feedback prior to submission. Plans can be submitted to us at dataserv@iupui.edu for review. Please send a brief project description (1-2 paragraphs) along with your plan. Allow a minimum of 3 business days for review. For better results, consult us as early in the proposal development process as possible.

Datasets in IUPUIScholarWorks
IUPUIScholarWorks is one way in which IUPUI is addressing the research communities' need for new outlets in scholarly communication. It is an institutional digital repository which employs the DSpace open source software (freeware) created by MIT and Hewlett Packard in 2000. IUPUI is in good company as Cambridge University, Columbia University, Cornell University, University of Washington, and Edinburgh University have also selected DSpace as a means for establishing their own institution's digital repository.
The technical aspects of maintaining the repository's infrastructure and ensuring submitted items are digitally preserved are handled by the experts at University Library.

Faculty Grants
2011/2012
Total Funds Available: $25,000
Purpose:
As a means of supporting the open access, use, and further promotion of IUPUI faculty scholarship, University Library is offering grants to support the digitization and online organization of collections related to faculty scholarship. More on IUPUI University Library's Program of Digital Scholarship can be found at: http://www.ulib.iupui.edu/digitalscholarship.
Projects that meet the criteria below will be funded on a first come first serve basis. The project approval deadline is June 30, 2012, with project completion deadlines as appropriate and determined during coordination with Jenny Johnson, Digital Initiatives Project Coordinator.
The maximum available for a single project is $5,000. This amount can be used to cover the costs of digitization, metadata creation, and other tasks as needed.

Mission
The missions of both IUPUI University Library and the IUPUI campus necessitate the existence and support of a program of digital scholarship. In a rapidly changing information and scholarly communication environment, propelled by the research pursuits and scholarly interests of IUPUI's students, faculty, and community members, it is vital that University Library, University Library Librarians, and University Library Staff extend traditional library activities into the digital environment.
