Print map collections at University Library
IUPUI University Library maintains a small collection of Indiana-related maps shelved in map cases next to the Microfiche/Microfilm Collection, University Library, 2nd Floor. Maps in this collection include topographic maps, forestry maps, national memorial/park maps, road maps, etc. Search IUCAT to locate these resources. University Library also maintains a small collection of print atlases covering national and world locales located in atlas shelving in the 2nd Floor Reference Area.

- EAS Map Room - maintained by Purdue University's Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Library, provides descriptive links to Indiana, National, and World map sites - excellent metasite!
- Odden's Bookmarks - a classic in the world of geography not only for providing links to map resources, but links to the entire world of cartography and geography.
Indiana
- Central Indiana Electronic Atlas - a repository of spatially referenced data for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area including Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties.
- A GIS for Indiana - presents digital maps on a variety of themes such as geologic features, mineral resources, and areas of environmental sensitivity.
- Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Properties maps - makes available maps of DNR properties, trail descriptions and property information, and a few miscellaneous maps associated with DNR locations
- Indiana Nature Preserves - provides maps of Nature Preserve locations by county
United States
- Geology.com - U.S. State Map Collection - includes raised relief maps, elevation maps, rivers maps, political maps and roads/cities maps, waterfall maps, state high points maps and more.
- Microsoft's TerraServer - free public access to maps and aerial photography of the United States.
- National Atlas of the United States - produced by the U.S. Geological Survey, this site is an updated, online "cousin" to the original National Atlas of the United States produced in the 1970s. Provides access to interactive maps and allows a user to build thematic maps.
- TopoZone - makes available every USGS 1:100,000, 1:63,360, 1:50,000, 1:30,000, 1:25,000, 1:24,000, and 1:20,000 scale topographic map for the entire United States. Searchable by place name.
World
- Geology.com - World Map Collection - over 100 country maps paired with Landsat images.
- CIA World Factbook - provides quality geographic information on countries and high-quality maps of regions and individual countries of the world. Map images are available in JPEG or PDF format.
- National Geographic Map Machine - based on the National Geographic Atlas of the World, this site is a good source of maps for printing for reports Allows for some map customization (you can add icons or text).
Driving Direction Maps
- Google Maps - Provides directions, interactive maps, and satellite/aerial imagery of the United States. Can also search by keyword such as type of business.
- MSN Maps & Directions - street mapping site that will map cities as well as provide driving directions between specified addresses.
- MapQuest - an easy-to-use, popular site that includes three main components: online maps, driving directions, and travel guides.
Print map collections available at nearby locations
- Indiana State Library - located within a fifteen minute walk at 140 N. Senate Avenue; Indianapolis, the State Library maintains a comprehensive collection of Indiana maps, dating back to the 1800s. The library houses a separate collection of federal government depository maps, including topographical maps for US states, census tract maps, and more. Maps must be used within the library and cannot be photocopied, although patrons are permitted to take photographs with a digital camera. Phone: 317-232-3675.
- Indiana Department of Natural Resource (DNR) - customers can purchase Indiana-related topographic and lake depth (fishing) maps at the: DNR Customer Service Center, Indiana Government Center South, 402 W. Washington St., Room W160, 232-4180. The office is within a fifteen minute walk from University Library. Topographic maps sell for $6.00 per map.
- The Odyssey Map Store - a retailer of an assortment of maps including: USGS topo maps, NOAA charts, lake maps, national and international travel maps, National Geographic maps, etc. The store is located at: 902 N. Delaware St., 635-3837.
