Maennerchor concert program, 1874The first Maennerchor concert took place on May 28, 1855, in Washington Hall, located at 68 West Washington Street. This building continued as the principal venue for Maennerchor concerts until 1878, when the Maennerchor rented the former City Hall building at 337 East Washington Street. Washington Hall served as the home of the Lyra musical society from 1882 until the society dissolved in 1889.
