About Gmelin
Gmelin (1772+) is a database of organometallic and inorganic structures, such as coordinations compounds, alloys, catalysts, glasses and ceramics, and minerals. It includes chemical and physical properties and relevant references to the original handbook and the journal literature. Hundreds of chemical and physical data fields can be searched, including electric, magnetic, thermal, crystal, and physiological data.

Learning how to search the Gmelin database is challenging but worthwhile because the database provides excellent coverage of property information for organometallic and inorganic compounds. User friendly query forms, once located, can make fact searching much easlier. You can search by drawing a structure, by entering the composition or by entering a percentage of the composition. You can also build sophisticated queries that incorporate structure, substructure, reaction, property, and keyword searches. ![]()
