Why We Work for Open
IUPUI University Library has long been committed to advancing Open, and has engaged in a variety of projects and services in support of that commitment.
INDIANAPOLIS—On March 7, faculty and staff gathered in IUPUI University Library for the 1st Annual Open Education Awards event. This event was created to recognize the work of IUPUI faculty members who have been committed to integrating Open Educational Resources (OERs) into their coursework.

Your second challenge is to Get an ORCID
ORCID IDs are permanent identifiers for researchers. They protect your unique scholarly identity and help you keep your publication record up-to-date with very little effort. Through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, your ORCID supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.

Create a Google Scholar profile
Google Scholar is a popular way to showcase your papers and the citations they’ve received. Google Scholar also calculates a platform-dependent h-index, if that is a metric your department uses.
Open Access Week - October 22 - 26, 2018
IUPUI and University Library are Open Access champions all year. Each year, thousands of articles published by IUPUI scholars are made publicly available through our participation in the Open Access Policy and the Open Access Fund. We also have more than a dozen open access journals published using the Open Journal System and supported by University Library. More to come in our annual Open Access @ IUPUI infographic!

The Center has been working with faculty for several years now, helping them to strategize, collect, and report evidence to demonstrate the impact and value of their scholarship. We take a broad view of what counts as scholarship, as we often discuss in our workshops. University P&T and hiring committees, funding agencies, and professional societies generally recognize that scholarship is more inclusive than journal articles, books, and conference proceedings.
