  • ICPSR (Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research) An international consortium of about 700 academic institutions and research organizations, ICPSR provides leadership and training in data access, curation, and methods of analysis for the social science research community.  ICPSR maintains a data archive of more than 500,000 files of research in the social sciences. It hosts 16 specialized collections of data in education, aging, criminal justice, substance abuse, terrorism, and other fields.
  • IBRC: Indiana Business Research Center The Indiana Business Research Center is an extensive resource for data and analysis of economic and demographic information needed by business, government and nonprofit organizations in Indiana and throughout the nation.

    The new Data.gov website allows users to search for statistics by subject, federal agency, or both. Datasets are available in a variety of file formats. A useful tutorial is provided for accessing datasets and other information via the website, which is worthwhile if you haven’t downloaded datasets before.

  • State and Metropolitan Area Data Book The Data Book contains a collection of statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States at the State and metropolitan area levels. Selected data for component counties and central cities of metropolitan areas are also included.
  • Statistical Abstract of the United States The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.  Use the Abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference, and as a guide to sources of more information both in print and on the Web.  Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.

  • United Nations Statistics Division Gateway to statistical information from databases of UN and member states.
  • United States Historic Census Data Browser
  • Hoosiers by the Numbers is a fairly user-friendly statistics database administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and features information for employers, job seekers, and economic developers. It offers many options for focusing on specific areas, cities, and industries.
  • Indy Partnership Information Warehouse provides the most up-to-date Indiana demographics information on the Indianapolis Region and our 10 surrounding counties. 
  • SAVI Interactive is a one-stop source for data and information for Central Indiana communities and organizations. It provides local data about the social, economic, and physical conditions of neighborhoods, townships, and counties, and other geographic areas such as school districts. SAVI summarizes these data into community profiles and allows users to view and analyze detailed data in interactive maps, charts, and tables.
