Catching Up With Past Student Hourly Employees: Justin Davis

Here at the Center for Digital Scholarship we have been lucky to work with some very dedicated, creative, and knowledgeable IUPUI students. These students have played a huge part in the building of our collections through scanning, metadata creation, and even digital photography. Let's find out what some past student workers are doing now!

Justin Davis

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in History from Florida State University, and then attained my Master’s in Library Science at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. During that time, I had the honor of working for the Digital Scholarship Team, namely Anna Proctor, Kristi Palmer, and Jenny Johnson. Furthermore, I was also given the privilege to work under Frances Huehls as a Reference Assistant. My time there gave me all of the skills needed in order to succeed as a Librarian. In the summer of 2013, I was offered a full time professional librarian position at the Indiana State Library in the Indiana Division. My work involves historical research, reference services, instruction, historical preservation, the creation of pathfinders and subject guides, leading tours for interested parties, coordinating with other government employees and agencies to ensure that the proper information is given to all parties, and representing the Indiana Division’s sizable collection to everyone interested in the history and culture of this great state.

I am proud of the work I have done and continue to do, and the help and guidance I received from Anna Proctor, Kristi Palmer, Jenny Johnson, and Frances Huehls during my time at IUPUI has given me the strength, determination, drive, and confidence to succeed in my career field.
